"MY JUMPING IS INCONSISTENT AND I HAVE NO IDEA WHY..."

Hi! I'm Nate K-G, and I’ve spent the last 15+ years jump roping competitively and coaching people in person, virtually, one-on-one, and in large groups.

And the one thing I hear from 99% of jumpers is that they have no idea why their jumping is inconsistent (or how to fix it).

While I’ve had countless conversations, there was one specifically that really made this point clear…

I was working with one of my individual coaching clients, and she wanted to learn how to do a Heel, Toe footwork pattern smoothly.

She showed me what she had already been working on… She could do Heel Taps but something wasn’t right…

Every two or three Heel taps she would lose balance and miss.

Mega frustrating. Especially after several hours of trying to fix this on her own.

NOT ALL PRACTICE IS USEFUL

Jumpers improve by practicing the CORRECT changes, not by repeating the same mistakes for hours.

This is what was happening with my client, and I knew I was about to change her jumping permanently with one small adjustment…

As she showed me a few more attempts, she made a couple side comments:

“Well… you know… I’m in my 50’s. I probably just don’t have the balance for this.”

“All of these people on Instagram get it quickly. I guess I’m a really slow learner.”

“This might not be for me. We can just move on if you want.”

After a minute or two of chatting I told her to try the exact same pattern, but this time don’t let her heel touch the ground during the Heel Taps.

So… basically just do a Single Leg jump with one foot pushed forwards.

Success.

So I told her, “Try it again!”

Success. Again!

“Now repeat the same pattern and let your heels just barely tap the ground.”

Success! Plus about 10 more Heel Taps in a row.

Then a mistake…

She was confused… “That felt really good for a while but then something happened…

So I told her that on her successful reps, she wasn’t putting ANY weight on her Heel Tap foot. So she was able to jump back to a regular Single Under easily before the next Heel Tap.

But when she had a mistake, she was putting her bodyweight on the foot that was in the Heel Tap position, pushed away from her body. And that foot can’t support weight, which caused her to lose balance.

That’s it. Just don’t put weight on the Heel Tap foot.

She was genuinely shocked that it was as simple as only jumping on one leg.

And what surprised her even more was the fact that she had no clue this was happening, despite doing it over and over and over!

Not all practice is the same. It’s really easy to accidently practice bad habits without even realizing it.

This is the issue with trying to learn from short social media clips:

Most information sounds great, but doesn’t have correct, actionable tips and drills

And beyond this, most people offering advice haven’t studied the biomechanics behind how to move the body properly for jump rope.

And after 15+ years of working directly with countless jumpers, I know that smooth, flowing footwork is attainable for all jumpers with correct technique learned in the right order.

END THE CYCLE OF INCONSISTENT JUMPING, FRUSTRATION, AND LACK OF PROGRESS

It’s not just a bunch of videos — it’s everything you need to grab your rope and flow

If you’ve tried to learn new Footwork combos and get smoother, but have struggled… I’ve got good news!

It’s not you, it’s the way you’re trying to learn.

As I’ve been coaching, I’ve noticed so many quick changes like the one I mentioned above for my client’s Heel Taps.

And while I do also coach freestyle skills, I specifically noticed so many jumpers were struggling with so many popular footwork combos.

It would literally take them years to learn on their own… but my clients would figure out the same combos in <30 minutes.

That’s when I realized I had an opportunity to create something more than wasn’t just a bunch of videos… but more like a complete guide to learn both the most popular footwork and also understand any footwork combo.

Here’s what I ended up with:

MEET YOUR COACH

Hey I’m Coach Nate!

I’m a full-time Jump rope coach, NASM-certified personal trainer, and former competitive jump roper

I’ve been jumping for over 15 years, so I have a LOT of history with this sport.

I started competing in the sport of jump rope when I was younger and placed top in the US.

I taught at many workshops when I was younger on my team. Coaching others has been a part of my worldview since day one.

I started coaching gymnastics when I was in college, and that’s when the way I saw jump rope shifted.

The body is simply a system of levers based on physics. And jump rope is not a collection of random tricks, but an very intricate pattern of repeatable movements.

And that’s when my coaching exploded!

Over the years I've able to coach thousands of people in Crossfit events, the Power Monkey Camp, Gym Seminars, impromptu meetups in California, formal jump rope workshops, and a huge amount of virtual one-on-one training sessions.

ALL of which were for adult jump ropers who wanted to learn some skills.

And everyone I’ve worked with has mentioned at least one of three things:

“I don’t know how to improve, or what to even look for”

“I don’t know what to work on next”

“I thought I was good, but I didn’t realize how many bad habits I have”

I want you to have a blast learning jump rope without having to restart after 2-3 years of jumping. I’ve taken everything I’ve learned from successful real life, in person coaching and put it into a step-by-step system for success with Footwork.

I’m here to help you—let’s get started! 😁
